Why Rembau Tempo

The Character of Our Approach

Owner Consultation Throughout

You are kept informed and consulted at every meaningful decision point — no work proceeds without your knowledge. Particularly relevant for restoration work where choices affect long-term character.

Precision-Rated Timing Equipment

Every calibre that passes through the atelier is regulated and measured on professional timing machines, assessing rate performance across multiple positions before the piece is returned.

Water Resistance Verified

Pressure testing is carried out on all applicable pieces following gasket renewal and reassembly, confirming water resistance integrity at the reference's original stated rating.

Photographic Documentation

For restoration work, a photographic record accompanies each significant stage. A written condition report is prepared on completion, providing you with a clear picture of the work undertaken.

Conservation Over Cosmetics

Patinated surfaces are preserved where appropriate rather than polished away. Our view is that age and wear, handled thoughtfully, form part of a piece's identity and long-term character.

Horological-Grade Solvents

Component cleaning is conducted through staged ultrasonic processes with solvents and lubricants selected specifically for horological use, not adapted from general mechanical servicing.

A Considered Next Step

Is Your Timepiece Due for Attention?

An intake assessment takes a few minutes and begins with a written record of your watch's current behaviour. There is no obligation — only the information you need to make an informed decision about your piece.

Questions

Frequently Asked

How do I know which service my watch needs?
We begin every intake with a written assessment that documents current rate behaviour, water resistance condition, and any concerns you've noted. Based on that record, we will describe the most appropriate pathway for your piece before any work begins. You are under no obligation to proceed.
What is the typical turnaround time?
Movement Care & Service generally requires three to five weeks, allowing time for multi-day rate observation before return. Crown & Stem Replacement is typically completed within two to three weeks. The Considered Restoration Programme runs from ten to sixteen weeks, depending on the depth of work and parts availability.
Do you work on all watch brands?
We work on a wide range of Swiss and Japanese mechanical calibres, including those from established European and independent houses. We do not service smartwatches or battery-operated quartz movements. If you are uncertain whether we can accommodate your piece, please send us details via the enquiry form and we will respond with an honest answer.
Will polishing be carried out during restoration?
Our default position is conservation — patinated surfaces are preserved unless the owner specifically requests otherwise. For pieces with collector significance or those intended for long-term holding, we consider the original surface condition to carry value. We will discuss this with you as part of the consultation process.
How are pricing and parts handled?
Service pricing is published and applies to standard work. Should a movement reveal wear that requires additional component renewal, we will contact you before proceeding. Parts are sourced to correct specification; we do not substitute non-original components without your knowledge.
How should I bring my watch in for service?
We recommend scheduling a drop-off appointment via our enquiry form or by telephone. The atelier is located at 62 Jalan Pinang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur. Walk-in intake may be possible depending on current capacity, but an arranged appointment ensures we can give your piece the appropriate time on arrival.
