Service Pathways
Three Pathways.
One Standard of Care.
Each service pathway at Rembau Tempo is structured to address a specific condition — from routine maintenance to considered restoration. The process within each is thorough, and the communication throughout is direct.

How We Approach Every Piece
Every piece that arrives at Rembau Tempo enters the same intake process regardless of the service pathway selected. A written record is prepared documenting current rate behaviour, water resistance condition, and any concerns noted by the owner. This document travels with the watch throughout.
From that point, the pathway diverges based on what the watch requires. Movement Care addresses the calibre through full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, selective lubrication, and multi-day rate regulation. Crown & Stem Replacement targets a specific assembly and verifies the result through pressure testing. The Considered Restoration Programme encompasses both of these and extends further into case, bracelet, dial, and component condition — with owner consultation throughout.
Written Intake Documentation
Condition recorded in writing before any work begins.
Systematic Disassembly & Inspection
Each component examined under magnification; wear assessed before cleaning begins.
Staged Ultrasonic Cleaning
Horological-grade solvents through a sequence of ultrasonic baths.
Selective Lubrication & Reassembly
Lubricants selected by contact surface type and movement specification.
Multi-Day Regulation & Observation
Rate measured on professional equipment over several days before clearance for return.
Pathway One
Movement Care & Service
A structured service approach for mechanical, automatic, and entry-level complication calibres — suitable for both daily-worn references and pieces returning to regular use after storage. The work begins with a written intake assessment documenting current rate behaviour, water resistance condition, and any owner-noted concerns.
The movement is fully disassembled, each component cleaned through staged ultrasonic processes using horological-grade solvents, inspected under magnification, and renewed where wear has progressed beyond acceptable tolerance. Reassembly follows with carefully selected lubrication on each contact surface, regulation across multiple positions on professional timing equipment, and a multi-day rate observation before return.
- Full movement disassembly and magnification inspection
- Staged ultrasonic cleaning with horological solvents
- Surface-specific lubrication selection throughout
- Multi-position regulation on Witschi timing machine
- Multi-day rate observation before return

Pathway Two
Crown & Stem Replacement
A focused service for crown and winding stem assemblies that have suffered wear, impact damage, or sealing degradation. The work begins with examination of the crown's threading, the stem's engagement with the movement, and the gasket condition within the crown tube and case.
Damaged or worn crowns are replaced with correctly specified parts; stems are renewed where bent, stripped, or showing fatigue at the click and shoulder. All sealing gaskets in the assembly are renewed during the service, and threaded surfaces are cleaned and lubricated where appropriate. Following reassembly, the watch is subjected to pressure testing to verify water resistance integrity at the watch's stated rating.
- Crown threading and stem engagement examination
- Correctly specified crown and stem replacement parts
- All sealing gaskets in the assembly renewed
- Threaded surface cleaning and lubrication
- Pressure testing to rated water resistance specification

Pathway Three
Considered Restoration Programme
An extended pathway for watches requiring deeper attention — typically pieces stored without service for many years, that have suffered impact damage, or recently acquired without service documentation. The programme combines full movement service, case and bracelet restoration with conservation in mind, gasket renewal and pressure testing, dial and hands review, and where appropriate, sourcing of correct replacement components.
The owner is consulted at each major decision point, with conservation favoured over refinishing on patinated surfaces. A photographic record covers each major stage, and a written condition report is prepared upon completion. Timelines run from ten to sixteen weeks depending on the depth of work and parts availability.
- Full movement service within the restoration scope
- Case and bracelet restoration — conservation-led approach
- Dial and hands condition review
- Owner consulted at each major decision point
- Photographic record of each stage
- Written condition report on completion

Standards
Technical Protocols Across All Services
Secure Premises & Custody
All watches are held in a secured atelier throughout the service period. No piece is worked on outside the premises or transferred to third parties without explicit owner consent.
Horological-Grade Materials
Solvents, lubricants, and cleaning agents are sourced from horological suppliers and applied according to calibre type and contact surface — not adapted from general mechanical servicing.
Pre-Authorisation for Scope Changes
If inspection reveals additional work beyond the agreed scope, we contact the owner before proceeding. No charges are added to final collection without prior communication and approval.
Realistic Timelines, Communicated Clearly
Turnaround estimates are based on actual capacity at intake. If a timeline changes during service — due to parts availability or scope — the owner is notified promptly rather than at collection.
Data & Privacy Handling
Intake records, photographs, and contact information are retained only for service and correspondence purposes. No information is shared with third parties outside of active service requirements.
Professional Calibre Knowledge
Over fifteen years, the atelier has accumulated working records for more than sixty calibres. Where a movement falls outside our documented knowledge, we say so before accepting the service rather than after beginning work.
